Why we built Capply.
Founded by Alistair Lechartier-Rutter
Capply started with a rejection. After a major engineering firm threw out my application, I didn’t get a single line of feedback on what went wrong — just a no. A month later I went back and actually prepared. I spent evenings on something as simple as sudoku, sharpening the pattern-spotting these tests quietly rely on, then reapplied — and this time made it through to the next stage. Nothing about me had changed except how prepared I was. That gap, between being good enough and being prepared, is the whole reason Capply exists.
Our goal as a company is to bring a bit more transparency to an employment process that gives candidates almost nothing back. We want to give students far more feedback than they’d ever typically get — what you got wrong, why it matters, and what to work on next — and let you practise on the go in short, repeatable bursts rather than long, brain-draining sessions. Coming from a heavily mathematical background, we’ve identified the key patterns that show up again and again across every test area, and across most providers, so you can learn far more efficiently. The whole idea is to make the employment process feel a little less daunting and to give you a kind of insurance — so whatever happens, you know it wasn’t the psychometric tests that let you down.
